Spring is a season of change. It’ s a time to renew, regroup, reset, and recommit to the resolutions we’ ve not kept, the better food we vowed to eat, and the better lifestyle habits we swore to adopt.
Spring is also the time to stretch, grow, and clear our mind, body, and soul. We love spring. It brings with it so many opportunities to get outside, get healthy, and get going. For us, we like to make changes when spring rolls around.
You might have noticed that we made a few changes to the magazine. For starters, we renamed it“ Gilroy Morgan Hill TODAY.” Gone is“ gmhTODAY” although we will still use that shortened version for our website and emails. So, why the change?
A few reasons.
First, many people never understood what“ gmh” meant. Sounds funny, but we still get asked all the time. My answer was usually something sarcastic like“ gumuh!”
Second, our little magazine is one of the few publications in our area that attempts to cover two distinct— but close in proximity and community spirit— towns. We genuinely love both communities and the people who reside in and around these quaint little hamlets at the edge of Silicon Valley. We feel that to help build a stronger, more connected region, we need to be intentional about how we market and brand ourselves. We also feel we can do an even better job of covering our two towns, San Martin, and the unincorporated areas that surround us by being clear about our mission and our brand.
Third, as both Gilroy and Morgan Hill continue to grow, we feel it is important to do our part to help spur economic activity by covering more of the attractions and amenities that make our region so great. So, in addition to continuing our stories about the people, organizations, and businesses that make our region great, we will begin doing more to highlight why our region is the best place to live on the planet. We will take you on day trips around our region, share little-known insider tips to make your excursions more fun, share more of the art, culture, music, and food scenes in every issue. In short, we want to help you explore more, experience more, and learn more about the place we call home.
Last, it’ s because of the pledge we made when we decided to start this publishing chapter in our lives, during the global economic shutdown, when no one wanted to touch a magazine.( Yeah. Good call). That pledge was to do our best to share the stories, the beauty, and all the good our communities have to offer, and to inspire people to live their best lives in the process. We’ re doubling down on that pledge.
We hope you join us on this next leg of our journey! More changes are on the way. Please always send your feedback, questions, and comments to: info @ gmhtoday. com. We want to hear from you!
Let’ s go make history, together.
