Gilroy Fire Captain Jeff MacPhail took a few minutes to say hello to Roast Beef and us at the recent National Night Out held August 4 at the Gilroy Library and City Hall Center. Roast Beef was right at home in Jeff ' s arms( she ' s all about men in uniforms!). Jeff is a lifelong Gilroy resident and is a 15-year veteran of the Gilroy Fire Department. Thanks for saying hello Jeff, and thank you for your service!
We ran into Roast Beef ' s " Auntie B "— the always smiling and joyful Bianca Rodriguez, aka Miss Downtown Gilroy, at a recent Downtown Live Music event.
# Rooted and Rising
Fall is here! It’ s time to say goodbye to a busy summer and welcome the changes in the air. Suddenly, it’ s a little cooler. Our trees are changing from green to hues of orange, red, and brown. Seasonal changes come every year, and this fall is no different. Local politics are changing too! City, county, school board, and special district elections will be taking place soon. We reached out to every local and regional candidate to offer space in our magazine. That’ s something we’ ve shied away from in the past. However, we felt this election was vital, given the state of our leadership. Change is needed, and change is in the air. Of all candidates contacted, two committed to space in this issue. We thank all candidates who considered our offer and welcome those participating. This election is important on many levels, and we applaud everyone running to make a difference. Regardless of whom you vote for in November, we implore you to vote!
