Great Walks: Putting Your Best Foot Forward
2. Bring water. Even a small bottle for an occasional sip. The habit matters more as the temperature rises and as your distances grow. Take hydration seriously— before during and after any excersise.
3. Walk with someone. If possible, take a friend or loved one. It makes everything better! The miles, the climbs, the challenge, the beauty are all enhanced when you can share the journey.
4. Check in. Always let someone know where you ' re headed and carry a charged phone. especially if you are going alone.
5. Be aware. On busy streets and quiet neighborhoods, never assume a driver sees you. Assume you are invisible, and that cars will roll stop signs and run red lights. Stay aware.
6. In nature, remember you ' re a guest. Give wildlife space and take out everything you bring in, including what your doggie deposits in nature. No one likes to find landmines left by the pup of a previous walker.
