OV Toros Youth Soccer League Shines at the Highest Level by Crystal Han
W hen you think of Morgan Hill, soccer probably isn’ t the first thing that comes to mind. Lately, however, Orchard Valley Toros Youth Soccer League( OV Toros) is changing that. Their boys and girls divisions were recently accepted into MLS NEXT and Nation 1 League respectively, paving the way for elite level soccer in South County.
T he blueprint for success often starts with dedication, perseverance, and above all else, love for what you’ re doing. For years, OV Toros has exemplified this by fostering a positive and inclusive environment where everyone can celebrate their love of soccer, whether that’ s playing recreationally or pursuing serious routes through their pre-competitive and competitive programs.
OV Toros has always made their players and the community their highest priority.“ We’ re here to try to help facilitate what the needs are for the local area,” Jack McMullen, OV Toros’ General Manager, said. During the pandemic shutdowns, OV Toros set up soccer clinics just so that people could get outside and get moving. Since then, they’ ve been able to get their coaches in school programs in every Morgan Hill school and some Gilroy schools that offer free lunchtime soccer games for the kids.
The soccer club’ s dedication has really paid off. In just the past year, OV Toros has gone from about four or five hundred kids to 1600. As they’ ve grown, they continue to strive for the best experience possible for everyone, so when coaches and parents wanted OV Toros to push for higher levels of competition, MLS NEXT and National 1 League were a natural next step.
