Chamber of Commerce
Notes
From The
President
By Mark Turner, President /CEO, Gilroy Chamber of Commerce
Many Thanks - The Gilroy Chamber of Commerce is grateful to
all our volunteers who assisted us at the Garlic Festival at the end
of July. Nearly 2,400 volunteer hours were donated by generous
Gilroy residents, Chamber members and our Board of Directors.
The dedication of those who supported our effort is so much
appreciated.
Bragging Alert – The Gilroy Chamber of Commerce is proud
to have recently been recognized by the Silicon Valley Business
Journal. Out of 75 of the Bay Area’s Chambers of Commerce, the
Gilroy Chamber ranked number 15. The Bay Area counties includ-
ed Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Benito,
San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Solano.
Bragging Alert #2 – The Gilroy Chamber of Commerce was one
of two Chambers in Santa Clara County and one of 29 Chambers
throughout the entire state to receive the President’s Circle Award
from the California Chamber of Commerce. The President’s Award
is given to Chambers for their political advocacy and efforts to
assist local businesses in the area of workplace compliance.
Speaking of Political Advocacy - Sacramento remains on the
Chamber’s radar as we continue to monitor legislation coming
out of the State’s Capitol. Due to the Chamber’s Prosperity Page,
Gilroy residents can not only monitor legislation but they can also
participate in the process. Residents can let their thoughts be
known by using the interactive tools available to them at gilroy.
org, clicking on the Prosperity Page and then going to the Top
Issues tab.
Blog Alert – Each Monday morning you can read a new blog post
by going to gilroy.org and clicking on the Blog tab. Once at the
Blog page, you can subscribe to the Chamber blog and be noti-
fied every time a new blog article is posted. Read articles about
leadership, success, social media, and other relevant topics.
