Gavilan College Is Growing!
A
lot has been happening at Gavilan College, and the community will soon
see new facilities in new places. Construction is underway at the Coyote
Valley Educational Center. Phase I will consist of five modular buildings
and a parking area. In addition to a variety of evening classes, this site will become
the new home of the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium.
Classes in public safety and a variety of college subjects are expected to begin at
the new site in Fall 2016. Land has also been purchased for a future campus in
San Benito County. Also in the works is a new site at the San Martin Airport for
the Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program. Currently housed on the
Gilroy campus, the Aviation Maintenance program prepares students for careers
in aviation mechanics, aircraft service, repair or sales of aircraft accessories, and
airframe specialist. Once the program moves into the new, centrally located site
(expected in Fall 2016), it will be able to accommodate twice as many students. For
more information about the AMT program, go to gavilan.edu/catalog/2015-2017/
degrees/Gavilan_Degree_AMT.pdf
The Coyote Valley site will be especially convenient to the northern section of
the Gavilan Joint Community College District (the district extends from Bernal
Road in San Jose through most of San Benito County). See you at the Grand
Opening in Fall 2016!
