Caitlin Robinett Jachimowicz was one of the many applicants for the open Morgan Hill City Council seat. How does a thirty-something, first-time politician land a City Council seat? For Caitlin, it was two-fold: first, impress the sitting Council with your accomplishments and second, lay out a compelling vision. Her Background Caitlin’s family moved to Morgan Hill in the early ’70s. She attended local schools, graduated from Live Oak and was honored as the Morgan Hill Chamber’s Student of the Year in 2002. She graduated magna cum laude from Seattle University and went on to Santa Clara University School of Law where she was recognized as Student of the Year in 2010. She received scholarships from the NAACP and the Santa Clara Law Alumni Association for her volunteer work with underprivileged communities. Her legal research work on Haiti was featured in the Santa Clara Law and Undergraduate magazine. She was admitted to the bar in 2010. She has clerked for the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and the Panetta Institute for Public Policy and served as a congressional aide to Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren. Before her appointment to the Morgan Hill Council she served on the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Commission for five years. Currently Caitlin works at Jachimowicz | Pointer, Attorneys at Law, Inc. with her husband and father-in-law. Her Vision As a couple with a young daughter, Penelope, Caitlin and her husband, Josh, had many housing choices in the valley. They chose Morgan Hill! Caitlin jokes that she helped Josh realize that “the sky is bigger” in Morgan Hill. More importantly Caitlin wanted to return to the place that had been good to her as a kid—a place where family values counted; a place that had a sense of patriotism; a place that valued community involvement; and a place where they could raise their daughter.
