LEADERSHIP MORGAN HILL DESILVA TO RECEIVE LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE AWARD Leadership Morgan Hill (LMH) announced the selection of Community Solutions Chief Development Officer, Lisa DeSilva as the 2017 recipient of the prestigious Leadership Excellence Award at an evening celebration/ fundraiser at Guglielmo Winery on Saturday, July 22nd. Lisa was chosen for the award for her passion—supporting and improving the lives of the clients of Community Sotutions, an outstanding human services agency that serves southern Santa Clara County as well as San Benito County. She graduated from Leadership Morgan Hill in 1999 and has been active in the community ever since. The Leadership Excellence Award recognizes the vision and leadership that advance the spirit of community and charity; reflects courage and insight; and inspires others to lead in a like manner. She will receive the LEAD medal at the gala summer tribute dinner at Guglielmo Winery on July 22nd. Lisa DeSilva RICHARD YOUNG CONTEMPORARY ART SHOWCASED Richard Young and daughter, Lisa Pistacchio Richard Young is one of those people who ages well and enjoys life. He is the owner of Young Signs and his handiwork can be seen around town and throughout the Bay area. He is also an avid runner and world traveler who often goes with his daughters. The Gilroy Center for the Arts recently featured Richard’s art. The abstract paintings and sculptures had 26 pieces at the Monterey Museum of Art in 1985. The pieces are abstract impressions of Monterey as seen by Richard as he visited and ran the area. The Art Center hosted the collection as a way to highlight contemporary modern art. GAVILAN COLLEGE VICE PRESIDENT OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS NAMED At their January meeting, the Gavilan College Board of Trustees confirmed the selection of Dr. Michele Bresso as the school’s next Vice President of Academic Affairs. Dr. Bresso brings 25 years of community college experience. Her most recent position has been as Interim Vice Chancellor of Educational Services at Kern Community College District. Dr. Bresso holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication from University of the Pacific, a master’s of science in Management & Organizational Leadership from Regis University, and both a master’s of arts in Human Development and a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University. She is an advocate for community colleges and their students wherever she travels, and she enjoys engaging students from various communities to share their experiences and educational goals.
