Icannot begin to express how pleased I am to welcome Stephanie Vegh to our team here at gmhTODAY . Having the opportunity to share one ' s passion with the next generation has to be right up there with becoming a grandparent . Well , maybe not quite up there , but a close second . At any rate , I am pleased that my daughter has chosen to join us as we work to bring you , our readers , the very best regional magazine possible . As Marketing Editor , Steph will be working with all the wonderful organizations we support and events that we sponsor as well as keeping us on track with our social media presence and online content management . She will bring a fresh , new perspective on all things of interest to her generation which will add to our current content mix . Please take a moment to read a little about her on page 9 .

The last two months have been alive with events , many of which you will find in our Community Digest section ( pages 41-50 ). It has been our pleasure to support many nonprofits and sponsor their fundraising efforts via events that raise the funds that help make many lives better . South Santa Clara Valley — Gilroy , Morgan Hill and San Martin — is such an amazing place to live . Not only do we have what I think is the best weather , but we also have an amazingly vibrant community life .
So , summer is here . YEAH ! And with it , we have SUMMER SIZZLE , with tons of things to do and enjoy . The Gilroy Garlic Festival is celebrating 40 years ( pages 70-75 ); the 4th of July Freedom Fest ( pages 90-91 ) is wishing the country a " Happy Birthday America ” with their two days of celebrations ; Gilroy Gardens has an Expanded Water Oasis ( pages 94-95 ); there ' s MUSIC just about every Thursday in Gilroy and every Friday in Morgan Hill ( pages 80-81 ; and the Gilroy Rodeo celebrates Gilroy ' s cowboy heritage ( pages 54-55 ).
We continue our look at our infrastructure with an update from our Associate Editor / Senior Writer , Robin Shepherd on Clean Energy ( pages 36-39 ). She also tackles the South Santa Clara Valley ' s homeless dilemma ( pages 32-34 ). My co-publisher and partner in all things , Larry Mickartz takes a close look at the haunting issue of regional growth with the conclusion that it ' s COMPLICATED ( pages 32-35 ).

Enjoy !!
