M
organ Hill artist Diane Wallace creates brilliant
oil and watercolor paintings, having formally
trained in her craft for many years in higher
education and under the tutelage of many
nationally renowned artists including American water-colorists
Don Edwards and Tom Hill. She has a passion for plein-air
painting, inspired by the “smells, sights and sounds” of
the outdoors.
Born the third in a family of seven children in Burlingame,

California, Wallace started sketching when she was two
and began painting when she was five years old. She grew
up on a hilltop spread overlooking Uvas Reservoir that
she calls home to this day. The five-acre parcel has several
structures including her residence, studio and art school
that she shares with a muster of wild peacocks that sound
off at the sight of visitors.
Her art classes provide instruction in a wide range of
techniques, presenting many options to her students who
