The Poppy Jasper International Film Festival is an event that takes place over eight days , from April 10th to 17th , 2024 , in Morgan Hill , San Martin , Gilroy , Hollister , and San Juan Bautista .
The festival brings together filmmakers and industry professionals from throughout California , the nation , and the world to our local region , boosting the local economy of our downtown businesses , inspiring youth to envision themselves as tomorrow ’ s filmmakers , and strengthening the cultural fabric of our community through the arts . The festival offers a diverse and inclusive range of short and feature films in a multitude of genres , including drama , comedy , animation , documentaries and more . This year ’ s festival will also feature industry panels , local community film screenings , and special events that showcase our area .
On Thursday , the festival will showcase local films . In Morgan Hill , films from Northern California will be screened , and in Gilroy , Southern California films will be screened . The day will end with a panel discussion on how to understand the film festival circuit and an after-party at the District Theater .
Friday celebrates Women in Film , starting with a brunch at MOHI Farm . The festival will then screen films directed by women from all over the world , followed by a panel discussion with women from the film and television industry . The day will end in Gilroy with the Poppy Bash !
On Saturday , films will be screened in Morgan Hill , Gilroy , and Hollister . In Gilroy we will have an industry panel discussion and mimosa brunch at Besson Family Vineyards .
The festival kicks off on Wednesday with the Opening Ceremony and Youth and Student Filmmaker showcase . The festival will be screening youth , high school , and college films at the Gavilan College Theater . The festival will open with members from the Gilroy High School , Christopher High School , South Bay Singers , and the Oriana Chorale . Accompanying them will be the Gavilan College music department and members of the Silicon Valley Symphony .
