TEDx Youth 2018 Speakers:
event. With the help of a dedicated team including Lucas Bundros, Andrea Levan and Jordan Bedwell, all from Gilroy High, and Ryan Rivera from Christopher. Mark Turner filled out the team as the adult advisor. This team became the face of a dedicated and capable younger generation!
On March 31 st at the GHS Theater, TEDx Youth @ Christmas Hill Park was held. Ten speakers entertained and motivated the audience. Over 30 people sent petitions to speak. All the selected speakers have a local connection through the high schools or were friends of friends. Potential speakers were reviewed by the local team and they selected the final nine speakers. None of the final nine were professional speakers … just young people with a well-delivered message.
Each presentation focused on“ Be the Change” and was around ten minutes with some using additional graphics or photos. One common thread was a high
level of professionalism and maturity. Justin Fajardo, only a sophomore at GECA, was the lead-off speaker and was an impressive speaker with a great message“ Be Kaizen … never be satisfied.” One after another the speakers impressed and inspired. The host for the day was the talented musician and MC, Iseph Dela Merced, a Christopher senior. Mark Turner delivered the last speech.
Pranavi and Tasia did a short presentation at the Gilroy Rotary where they raised the $ 1,000 necessary to fund the event. Looking forward, several team members, who are not graduating this year, are eagerly interested in hosting a bigger and better event next year. One goal for a 2019 event would be to have more participation from the high schools in Hollister and Morgan Hill.
If a measure of the future generation is the leadership, dedication and abilities seen at TEDx Youth @ Christmas Hill Park things are going to be just fine.
