The saying that “seeing is believing”
is appropriate when it comes to the
iconic Winchester Mystery House,
located at 525 S. Winchester Boule-
vard, San Jose. The mansion, once
owned by Sarah Winchester, widow
of William Wirt Winchester, and heir-
ess to the Winchester Repeating Arms
fortune. She continued construction
on this iconic mansion from 1886 to
1922, transforming the eight-room
farmhouse into a 24,000-square-foot
mansion with 10,000 windows, 2,000
doors, 160 rooms, 52 skylights, 47
stairways and fi replaces, 17 chimneys,
13 bathrooms, and 6 kitchens. The
current market value for the home is
$17 million.
