THE ORTH'S ELEVENTH ANNUAL
GARLIC BOOT CAMP
Back in 2008 Barbara and Jeff Orth came up with
the idea of a “get ready for the Garlic Festival”
party. The Orth’s are very involved in the community
and the Boot Camp was a way to bring together
friends, neighbors, clients and fellow Rotarians. The
party this year hosted over one hundred people and
was catered by the Culinary Academy.
The Orth’s really push the boot camp theme.
Their house becomes “The Training Center.”
Restrooms become “latrines.” If you are invited and
do not attend you are “AWOL.”
Interestingly, the Garlic Festival signs around
the party and the Garlic Festival for Dummies
book were props for when daughter Stephanie
competed for the title of Gilroy Garlic Festival
Queen. She was the runner-up.
Son, Brian, when he was 14 was once the
youngest Pyro Chef at the Festival. He
continues his Pyro Chef duties at
this party every year.
