Affiliation with the Gilroy Foundation has lent credibility to, and increased awareness of, the Latino Family Fund programs while also providing financial management and basic administrative support. “Our board doesn’t have the bandwidth to take that on,” Edwin said. “It’s a tremendous benefit, and Donna Pray has always been responsive to us.” The Latino Family Fund embraces diversity and inclusiveness in its work. “Not everyone’s comfortable talking about their differences. We serve the Latino community and non-Latinos as well, and we want people to know this,” Enrique said. LFF has recognized local nonprofit, business and educational leaders for their work in the community. This list includes Erin O’Brien, David Cox, Ken Christopher and Sally Armendariz, to name a few. The LFF, through its community grants program, has awarded over $58,000 to local nonprofits. Its goals are to grow, with more schools, more donors, more funds, and more admin capacity. “We’re aiming to raise $250,000 by 2020 and I think we’re on track,” Edwin said. “I say that because our members are passionate about what we do, and the kids who come into our YIP program every year are so amazing.” Learn more online at www.lffgilroy.org.
