While we won’t miss the crowds, we
were glad to have been part of it all!
The last day of Las Fallas was a long
one. Along with honoring St. Joseph,
the Valencians took the opportunity to
say goodbye to winter and welcome
spring. Starting around 10pm,
they began burning these beautiful
sculptures in each neighborhood,
witnessed by thousands of people and

a highlight of the celebration. This is
known as La Crema (the cream, or the
best), and the reason the sculptures are
called falles (torches). The roaring crowd
and its joyful energy was almost over-
whelming.
The final sculpture to be burned at
1:00 am was the largest one located at
the Plaça de l’Ajuntament of Valencia.
The Valencians put on another amazing
