When asked what I should be sure to
share with you, in true “Tegan-fashion,”
Tegan responded, “Thank you, thank
you, thank you to all of the talented
families and friends that have really
made this possible. Shoutout to Ms. Col-
leen Blanchard, her family, and the Toms
especially; they have been there from
the very beginning, and have changed
the way I think about so many things.
Thank you to the Cumming's for casting
this tiny kid among tall Live Oak high
schoolers, and to Ms. Joanna Evans for
giving a newbie a chance. And to all the
kids who have befriended this weird
little girl named Tegan, my life wouldn’t
have been the same without you.”
From my perspective, Tegan is an
example of what a community can foster.
Of course parent encouragement and
sacrifi ce are the foundation to helping
kids such as Tegan achieve their dreams.
Arts programs, such as community the-
ater, school theater, and city parks and
recreation theater have all contributed to
Tegan’s growth.
For parents, I hope Tegan exemplifi es
what is possible. For our community, she
stands as an icon of the benefi ts of the
arts to our youth.
After the passing of a dear friend, fi ve of
her friends realize time is precious and if
they are going to change their lives and
achieve their dreams they have to get on it
now! So, they decide to turn a run down
church into a spa. But Sugar Lee, their
high-spirited, determined leader, has her
hands full keeping the women motivated.
Carlene’s given up on romance, having
buried three husbands. Nita is a wreck
from running interference between her no
good son and his probation offi cer. Mavis’
marriage is so stagnant she’d wondering
how she can fake her own death to get out
of it. And sweet, simple Crystal entertains
them all, singing Christmas carols with her
own, hilarious lyrics.

Based on what the NY Post describes as a
"devilishly clever idea,” the play demon-
strates what can happen when a group
of devious characters must dealwith a
stranger who (they think) knows no English.

assistant at a fl oral shop who happens
upon a strange plant, which he affec-
tionately names "Audrey II” after his crush
at the shop. Little does he know that this
strange and unusual plant will develop a
soulful R&B voice, a potty mouth, and an
unquenchable thirst for human blood…
