on Kumar, 44, brings a wealth of fi nance
experience to his job with the City of San Jose.
As the Investment Operations Manager for San Jose’s Offi ce
of Retirement Services, he oversees the operations of invest-
ment portfolios totaling more than $6 billion. Ron began
working with the City of San Jose in 2001 as an Investment
Analyst. He has also served as an Investment Offi cer,
investing in private equity, real estate, and real assets.
Today he leads the Investment Operations Group to adopt
new processes, improve governance models, and ensure
adherence to policies and procedures that protect the invest-
ment assets of some 13,000 City employees and retirees
served by his group. Ron’s fi nance career began at age 17
at Wells Fargo, where he held various positions and moved

up through the ranks while going to college. He has a B.S.
in Finance from San Jose State University. Ron serves Santa
Clara and surrounding counties as a Notary Public and is
a member of the National Notary Association. He moved
to Morgan Hill in 2015 with his wife Gini, a Registered
Dental Assistant, and their sons Jayden and Jaycek.
They chose Morgan Hill for its quality of life in terms of
community, housing, and schools. In 2018 Ron joined the
Board of Directors of the Morgan Hill Historical Society,
where he currently serves as Board Treasurer and chairs
the Finance and Governance committees. He appreciates
the opportunity to contribute his fi nancial expertise while
giving back to an important cause—the work of preserving
and sharing history.
