“What I learned from the Garlic
Festival is: If you make yourself
available, anything’s possible.
A small board and staff and an
incredible army of volunteers carry
out a year-long plan in one week. A
park is miraculously transformed
into a huge festival and back into
a park again. A lot goes into it,
and a lot comes out of it through
community engagement and
scholarships for youth.”
