GILROY
spice of life awards
Pedro Jaime Rosso, 67, is named for
his grandfather but goes by Jaime. He
was born and raised in San Bernardino
as the oldest of ten children. He gradu-
ated from a small Catholic high school
in 1970 in a class of 70 students where
he served as Senior Class President. He
briefly attended San Jose State Universi-
ty but found the culture shock and many
thousands of students too much, so he
returned to Southern California to attend
Pedro Jaime
ROSSO
Loyola Marymount. In 1975, Jaime and
his wife, Evelia, moved to Gilroy where
they’ve lived ever since. Jaime’s service
to the community started in 1975, and 45
years later, he hasn’t stopped.
Rosso’s Furniture in Gilroy is the flagship
store for the family business which start-
ed in 1978 in a 1,500 square foot building
on First Street. The walls of his office in
the Gilroy store are decorated with family
photos, plaques and certificates of past
awards, furniture-store sales posters, and
past political campaign posters.
