Ed Sanchez : Continued

It ’ s easy to see why Eddie Sanchez is considered one of our true heroes . It ’ s simply who he is at his core .

" We are all required to make America what it is supposed to be ,” he reasons . “ America is wonderful . We ’ re just trying to perfect it .”
On November 11 at 1pm , Grand Marshal Sanchez will lead all the other true heroes in this year ’ s Veterans Day parade , hosted by the South Santa Clara Valley Memorial District and the Gilroy Veterans Hall .
“ Last year was Gilroy ’ s first Veterans Day parade and it didn ’ t disappoint with the number of veterans riding and walking in the parade ,” said Army veteran Jesse Sanchez . “ We hope it becomes a tradition that provides a way for the community to come together and properly honor our local veterans . Hopefully more veterans will want to be in the parade instead of standing on the sidelines .” In 2022 there were nearly 100 veterans participating .
The parade will start at 7th Street and Monterey and travel north to 4th and Monterey . The parade staging location will be in the new City of Gilroy public parking lot at 7th and Eigleberry Street . All parade entries must display patriotism with decorations and / or music selection . The entry deadline is Oct . 27 . Rules and conditions , as well as the application , are available on the Gilroy Veterans Hall website ( GilroyVeteransHall . org under Community Events / Veterans Day 2023 ).
There is no entry fee , thanks to generous donors like 5-Star General Sponsors Mayor Marie Blankley and Gardner Health Services , Colonel Sponsors Jay Johnson & Associates , LLC , and Build Site Services .
