Bruno Filice purchased the San Martin Winery . The family expanded their vineyard holdings in 1941 , acquiring nearly 400 acres of the Glen Ranch and reinvigorating the production of wine grapes .
When the San Martin Winery was sold in 1973 , the new owners still sourced grapes from the Glen vineyard . The Glen Ranch complex operated throughout the 1970s , though the structures were removed over time , and eventually , the Barn became the sole occupant . It had served as a storage facility for the Garlic Festival . The City of Gilroy now owns the property which is called the ' Ranch Site ' as well as the adjacent Christmas Hill Park and the Debell / Uvas Creek Preserve .
The Miller Red Barn has many more stories to tell of the generations of people who have visited the Glen . It serves as a reminder of our community heritage , linking our past with the vision of future landscapes . I am very much encouraged that these connections were saved , and I look forward to the possibilities for what the Barn can represent for Gilroy .
