Let ’ s Welcome New MHUSD Superintendent Dr . Carmen Garcia : Bringing 22 years experience in education to MHUSD , Dr . Garcia hit the ground running . Since her appointment in May , she has worked closely with outgoing Superintendent Steve Betando , and met with district and school administrators , staff , and district partners to familiarize herself with the school district and surrounding community . Her dedication and effort ensures a smooth transition into the 2021-22 school year . She credits the community for its unparalleled support , and excellent programs and services . She is married to Dr . Gabriel Gutierrez , a school psycologist . They have three children — Sophia ( 10 ), Emma ( 7 ), and Sebastian ( 6 )— and Luna , their energetic family dog . We wish Dr . Gilroy Downtown Business Association Hosts Inaugural Gourmet Alley Event : Scores of locals attended the first ever Gourmet Alley event in Downtown Gilroy on June 26 . This served as a fundraiser to help Ashford ’ s Heirlooms complete renovations started by Owner and Downtown Champion Steve Ashford , who unexpectedly passed in 2020 .
