The Golden Grapevine by Andrea Nicolette
Recently I found myself perusing my old high school yearbooks , reminiscing about all the good times past . A question lingered on my mind , but I knew there wouldn ’ t be just one answer :
“ What is the best memory you have of your high school days and what advice would you give to a newly graduated student ?”
While driving to the YMCA Lunch Program , I heard through the grapevine that a few of our golden guys , gals , and pals would have the time to answer that question . Here are their answers ...
Cindy Reed :
One of the best days I ever had in high school was cutting afternoon classes with my friend Dana , when I was a senior . We went to the park across the street and played in the sprinklers . We had a blast .
My suggestions to anyone graduating would be to do what you love and love what you do . Success is sure to follow you . And strive for happiness not possessions .
David Matuszak :
I enjoyed the bowling club . We had a league that met after school on Monday afternoon . I think I did this all in four years . But life got too busy and I didn ’ t continue as an adult .
Advice : Don ’ t overcommit and keep your commitments . Your reputation is the most valuable thing you own .
Jose Luis Ceja :
My best time in high school was participating in track and field . Also when I played soccer , those were my favorite moments in high school .
My advice to any high school student is to enjoy everything that you do and do it with love , knowing that you ’ re building your dreams . Most of all have faith in God .
Rosemary Mason and Rod Skinner :
A few good pieces of advice would be : Remember you are no better than anyone else , but no one is better than you . Follow your heart .
Find a job you really love and you ’ ll never work a day in your life .
Jim Kirkpatrick :
My advice to a high school graduate would be : Enjoy it !
Go to college , you will need an education to have a good job .
Bernice Lawrence :
One of my best high school experiences was the high school co-op work experience program .
My advice to any student is to pursue your dreams ; it ’ s never too late to go back to school .
