She also points out that it ’ s not only children who will benefit from the park ’ s inclusivity and accessibility . “ Grandparents who use a wheelchair or a walker , or aunts and uncles , etc , will be able to get up and play with the kids , too .”

The Morgan Hill City Council approved the concept design for the park in 2016 , but its $ 2.15 million price tag wasn ’ t fully funded until March , 2020 . Funds came from a variety of sources , including the Santa Clara County Office of Education , the City of Morgan Hill , and the Edward Boss Prado Foundation , which donated $ 70,000 , according to Ghione . The Junior League of San Jose also contributed $ 30,000 and over $ 300,000 was raised by individuals and local businesses .

While they ’ d hoped to be finished in April , Ghione explained that the COVID-19 pandemic slowed some of the progress , yet that may ultimately have been for the best . “ If we opened in April we wouldn ’ t have been able to have the ribbon cutting in person ,” he said .

“ Our Magical Bridge Playground is going to be transformative for our community in so many ways . It will truly be a place where kids of all abilities can come and play together ,” said Ghione .
