Quiet Giants : Pat Vickroy
Vickroy ’ s lessons on treating their peers with respect is something former student , Isabella Diaz , has never forgotten . “ Mr . Vickroy has shown me the value of using your words and approaching every situation with an open mind … he is the embodiment of kindness and is truly who everyone wishes they could be when they grow up ,” Diaz said . “ Mr . Vickroy is the most sincere , energetic , enthusiastic , and understanding person I ’ ve ever met and I admire how he has taught students of all ages to practice these same attributes in every aspect of their lives .”
The numerous cards and letters adorning the Gilroy home Vickroy shares with his wife of 27 years , Tammy , a retired teacher herself , are additional reminders of the impact he ’ s made on his students . One card in particular stands out , it reads , ‘ We love you because you love us .’ “ It just kind of sums it all up ,” Vickroy said , with a smile .
