was crackin ’!) As it turns out , people were digging the final product .
“ Festival attendees , film directors and industry leaders loved the beer and our efforts to tie in each hosting city to PJIFF . We knocked it out of the park !” Fitzharris said .
This was a souped-up version of the PJIFF beer collaboration . Back in 2019 , the trio of Kelly Brewing , Promised Land Brewing , and Brewery Twenty Five brewed a hoppy red ale – led by Promised Land . “ Still it was a great start to the incredible project it ’ s now becoming ,” Fitzharris said of the modest beginnings , which are evolving to bigger and better things . Fitzharris started as a beer geek in the 1990s and became a member of the brewing industry officially in 2011 .
With the addition of Mad Pursuit and now Settle Down ( licensed to brew in their facility , but not yet open , though getting closer ), the collaboration ramped up to a handful of breweries .
“ A collab like this helps newer breweries [ like SDB ] to comfortably and casually enter the beer community . We ' re thankful for the opportunity and are happy to see so many people excited and willing to greet Settle Down with open arms , open minds and a thirst for new beer ,” Anderson said .
Many people ask us at Settle Down Beer if the handful of breweries in the area creates a lot of competition , like it ’ s a “ me against the world ” approach in the brewery business . The fact is , we are all in it together .
“ One thing that has remained consistent , in and out of a pandemic , the craft / independent beer industry always works together well . My hope is that never changes especially with so many new breweries coming on board ,” Fitzharris said .
Alex DeLeon , co-owner and head brewer at Mad Pursuit busted that myth of breweries competing against each other in the finest of fashion .
“ We had a blast working with everyone on this project . We have a great beer community and I ’ m proud to be a part of it .”
To that , I think I speak for all of us in the South County beer community by saying , “ Ditto !”
