Over the years , technology has changed the world of photography . In today ’ s digital age , color photography has become the norm . But black and white photography still has a special place in the world of art and is just as prominent and just as important as ever . The beauty of black and white images lies in their simplicity , elegance , and the timeless quality they seem to have . They often have a nostalgic , even powerful feel to them .
Black and white photography is a medium that presents its own unique set of challenges and rewards . It is a medium that requires a different way of seeing and a different approach to composition than color photography . Since black and white images rely on light , contrast , and texture , it ’ s important to visualize them when composing the image .
When film cameras were more widely used , a person would have to decide whether to put black and white or color film into their camera before they went out . Now digital cameras are more commonly used , and they default to taking color images which then need to be converted to black and white .
