For this installment of “ Dining Out with Friends ” we wanted to get back to Downtown Morgan Hill and “ officially ” check out Noah ’ s Bistro . We ’ ve been to Noah ’ s more than a few times in the past and have always loved it . So , we thought it was about time we made a visit for research and reporting purposes . As I ’ ve stated before , we have it rough here at gmhTODAY — we “ have to ” go to local restaurants , pour over the respective menus , select the best each restaurant has to offer , and grind through multiple courses of delectable food . The hardest part is saving room for the awesome desserts . It is a tough job , but someone has to do it . And it ’ s all done for the sake of writing this column so that you can make an informed decision when venturing out for that great local meal . In other words , we are making this sacrifice for you . You ’ re welcome .
On a semi-serious note , this is one of the best parts about publishing the magazine for a few reasons : we love food , we love hanging out with friends and sharing great experiences , and I love writing and sharing my opinions , perspectives , and gained knowledge . Plus , it ’ s always fun to get to know local restaurants , owners , and staff a little better . All that out of the way , let ’ s talk about our adventure dining out with friends at Noah ’ s Bistro in Morgan Hill .
When it comes to friends , they don ’ t get much cooler than Deb and Bryson Smith . Hailing from Bountiful , Utah , the Smiths have been involved in the Gilroy Community since moving west almost 30 years ago . Their kids attended local schools and participated in a variety of sports , music , and theater . Their youngest daughter , Chloe attends Mount Madonna School and is also active in theater . She is a self-taught guitarist and ubertalented singer-songwriter . We missed Chloe this night , as she had a prior arrangement .
Bryson is a Realtor with Intero Real Estate Services in Gilroy . He has over 36 years of real estate experience and can help you accomplish any real estate goal . He is a member and current
president of the Gilroy Evening Rotary — perhaps the coolest club on the planet – and can always be found leading the club in volunteer efforts to make the community better . Deb is “ Gilroy ” though and though . She worked for several years at the City of Gilroy Parks and Recreation Department and Gavilan College . She served eight years on the Gavilan Board of Trustees , including serving as president . She is an emeritus board member and past president of the Gilroy Foundation , and a member of the Gilroy Evening Rotary . Deb is a personal trainer and fitness instructor — and for those reasons , I do not have her number saved on my phone . Both Bryson and Deb are Gilroy Chamber of Commerce members . Most importantly , they are just fun people to hang with !
Rolling into Noah ’ s the first thing you notice is the cool vibe . The full bar and lounge area is set up for parties of all sizes to come in , chill and dine . You ’ ll always find room and a friendly staff ready to serve you . Past the bar and lounge area is the main dining room . Lots of light from street-side windows and spacious seating welcomed us . Deb and I were first to arrive . Before my rump hit the stump , I blurted out “ Old Fashioned !” It was just a nervous twitch . Once I got my order in , I thought of others , ordering a nice glass of 2021 Rombauer Chardonnay ( Rombauer Winery , Napa , Los Carneros AVA : Napa / Sonoma Counties ) for my Deb . Deb and Bryson Smith came in just a few minutes behind us , ordering an iced tea for Bryson and the Chardonnay for Deb .
As we caught up and perused the menu , we took note of the special ambiance . The manager and bartender for the night was Billy Serber . Billy was super welcoming and knowledgeable . He made us feel right at home , and most importantly got
