In May the Soul of my Soul art exhibit graced the lawn area at Morgan Hill City Hall . Over 100 children from the South County participated in the event , which drew approximately 150 people throughout the day on a sunny Saturday , including Gilroy City councilmembers Rebecca Armendariz and Zach Hilton , Morgan Hill City councilmembers Rene Spring and Yvonne Beltran , and both community Mayors Mark Turner of Morgan Hill and Marie Blankley of Gilroy .

The focus of the event was to create awareness and provide an opportunity for local children to be empowered to express their feelings through art , and to give a voice to the voiceless children in Palestine . Event organizers shared that the power of art helps children grieve and provides a safe space to share their grief with others .
“ Soul of my Soul is a mobile exhibit which takes the visitors on a profound journey of collective grief . The plight of the Palestinian people is often ignored in our media and public spaces . This event raises awareness about what is happening in Palestine , allows our community to process their grief , and gives our children an artistic outlet and voice . The artwork displayed is created by children in our community .” According to the event website .
The Children ' s Exhibition had four sections . The Local Children ' s Art display included children ' s art messages that focused on their future " Hope for the Children of Palestine ."
