Kneaded Bakery held their 9th Annual Pop A Cork fundraiser at the beautiful MOHI Ranch in May, Over $ 157,000 was raised to help empower local youth enrolled in Kneaded’ s Culinary Academy by providing financial aid, uniforms, food supplies, and bus passes for transportation to and from the Culinary Academy. Funds also cover the costs of cutting boards, nonslip shoes for safety, food handler certifications, and essential kitchen tools including chef knives, peelers and more. To date, Kneaded has served thousands of local youth placing many into positions within the culinary industry. Learn more at: Kneaded. com

GPD Captain Jason Smith Retires

After 30 years of service, Captain Jason Smith retired in May. His career began in Soledad CA in 1995, later serving with the City of Capitola. He joined the City of Gilroy in 2006. Throughout his career, Jason has been a community champion, advocating for victims and families, leading department training, and improving processes to help departments better serve the public. A Multiple Medal of Valor recipient for heroic efforts on the job, Jason has served as President of the Gilroy Police Officers ' Association and the Gilroy Management Association. He led with honor, dedication, and a love for police work and for those he served. Jason is a Board member of Leadership Gilroy and supports many other local organizations. We wish Jason and his family the very best in this next chapter!
