Wildflower Run A Soggy Success
Cold and Wet, Runners Prevail to Help Raise $ 65K
by Elizabeth Mandel
For the third consecutive year, the Wildflower Run, held March 30 at Morgan Hill’ s Live Oak High School, was a sold-out event. However, for only the second time in the run’ s 42-year history, participants encountered rain. 1200 runners braved the light drizzle with undampened spirits and huge smiles.
The Wildflower Run, an all-volunteer-run event, organized annually by the Morgan Hill branch of the American Association of University Women, features six events, ranging from family friendly All Age 2K and 5K Walk options to competitive 2K, 5K, 5K Stroller, and 10K races. Adding a little more competition to the mix is the annual“ School Team” challenge, with Morgan Hill schools competing for the most participation. This year, a record 11 schools took up the challenge, with 306 student, staff, and family member participants.
