Winning Hearts, continued...
The horses that do buck only do so at events, and Elliot and Emily make sure they don’ t buck back-to-back days.“ They buck for eight seconds. Not even two minutes the entire year,” Emily explained. The rest of the time, the horses get to graze on grass near an open spring and live pampered lives. For those with lingering doubts, Emily and Elliot welcome everyone to come to a rodeo, talk to them, and take a look at their equipment. They have nothing to hide.
In addition to continuing their breeding program, Lone Oak hopes the recent surge in interest will help them reach their goals. They’ re currently campaigning a few of their horses for this year’ s NFR( National Finals Rodeo), which Emily describes as the Superbowl of rodeo. Only the best riders and the best bucking stock in the world perform there, and so it would be a huge honor to see their horses and sponsored riders reach that level.
Lone Oak would also love to host more events. Towns across California have been asking them to host Bucking Bashes in their area, but in order to do things like that Lone Oak would need year-round partners and sponsors. They’ re currently offering a sponsorship package where companies can have their name attached to the name of one of Lone Oak’ s top ten horses, and there will be several advertising opportunities throughout the year, both for their events and social media.
Cowboy culture may still not be what it was in its heyday, but Emily and Elliot are keeping it alive and well. They encourage everyone to come to their events or visit their Facebook or Instagram page: @ loneoakpro, to see what Lone Oak Western Productions is all about. It’ s sure to be a wild ride! end.
