Freedom Fest, continued...
his feeling of connection and belonging that both Stein and
T Hubert have experienced is exactly what they want to impart most with the festival. Freedom Fest has always been a wonderful grassroots event funded by local individuals and businesses for everyone to enjoy, and they plan to keep it that way.“ My hope is that the community continues to feel like this is theirs. This is not my event. It’ s not the city’ s event. This is the community’ s,” Stein said. He and his team have been working hard to ensure that everyone feels safe and included, even featuring a live broadcast of the events for those who can’ t be physically present due to health or travel concerns.
Although the 4th of July is a celebration of our independence, Freedom Fest helps remind us that we never would have achieved that without each other. Beneath the fun and festivities, it’ s a message of hope.“ We will go through tough times, but at the end of the day, the fundamentals never change. People, from the 1800s to now, still want to connect,” Stein said. And when we connect and renew our bonds with each other year after year, we form waves capable of smoothing over even the most fractured or broken systems within our country.
