Summer in Gilroy and Morgan Hill arrives with the promise of long days, ripe produce, and lively community events. But with those golden rays often comes triple-digit heat. As temperatures climb, staying cool becomes both a necessity and an opportunity to explore some of the region’ s most beloved spots and hidden treasures. Fortunately, South County residents can stay close to home and still find fun and refreshing ways to beat the heat.
Dive In: Pools and Water Playgrounds For many local families, the Morgan Hill Aquatic Center is a go-to summer destination. Located at 16200 Condit Road, this facility offers more than just a traditional swimming experience. The Aquatic Center features a water playground, a warm-water instructional pool, and the popular“ Splash’ s Dash,” a large inflatable obstacle course that floats right on the water. It’ s an ideal spot for both kids and adults to let loose, stay active, and cool down. Daily admission fees range from $ 5 to $ 14. Morgan Hill residents benefit from discounted rates.
Just a few minutes away, the Centennial Recreation Center( CRC) Pool offers a more relaxed environment at 171 W. Edmundson Avenue. The CRC Pool is perfect for lap swimming, leisure dips, and family fun. Recreational swim times are available, and special events like“ Family Fun Night at the Pool” offer opportunities for connection and cooling off in the early evenings. Whether you’ re looking for structured fitness or splash-filled play, Morgan Hill’ s aquatic amenities provide something for everyone.
Nature’ s Air Conditioning: Shady Parks and Forest Trails If you prefer to stay active while soaking up some natural shade, Uvas Canyon County Park, just west of Morgan Hill, is an excellent destination. Nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains, this lush park offers cool, tree-covered hiking trails and the soothing sound of waterfalls.
