By the Incredible Roast Beef
Yes... Roast Beef is really my name. And yes... I already know what you ' re thinking.
It ' s a strong name. Memorable. A name with presence. And yet every single time I meet someone new, they take one look at my tiny face and start laughing before Mama even finishes the introduction.
I don ' t get the joke, honestly. Nobody laughs when they meet a Winston or a Duke. I weigh exactly 2.5 pounds and carry a personality roughly the size of a Great Dane ' s. The name fits. I ' ll take the laugh as a compliment.
Wherever I go, people stop me. They see me trotting along next to mom and dad and everyone ' s faces light up. Suddenly I ' m " so tiny," " so precious," " basically a stuffed animal." More than one stranger has joked about tucking me into their pocket and walking off with me.
Cute idea. I already have two people for that job, and they don ' t share me, no matter how roomy the pocket.
Mom and dad stick close because they know exactly what they ' re looking after. I do have one house rule about who gets to pet me: check with mom first. She ' s my favorite person on the planet, and when she gives the nod, I ' m always up for saying hello. I promise I ' m friendlier than I look.
After the compliments, people always ask the same three questions:
1. What ' s her name? 2. Where did you get her? And, 3. Is there another one just like her?
I can save you the trouble on that last one; nope, just me. One of a kind, as far as I ' m concerned.
The second question is Mama ' s favorite to answer, because that ' s where this whole story starts: GoodDog. com.
