What ' sCookin ' with Roast Beef
L ong before I came along, mom and dad already knew what they wanted; something small enough to carry, sharp enough to keep them laughing, and confident enough to run the house within a week. Then mom found my photo( that ' s the money shot on the opposite page). She told dad she was " just looking."
That ' s what everyone says right before they fall head over heels. Mom did instantly. And dad played it tough for a while but mom says he fell like a rock in water.
Through GoodDog. com, mom and dad connected with Lilia, the breeder raising me down in Chula Vista. I couldn ' t tell you where that is exactly. I was too busy being a puppy. I do know it was a long drive from there to my forever couch.
While they waited, Lilia sent weekly photos so mom and dad could watch me grow. Back then, I was just a wobbly-legged pup barely holding my head up on the carpet, and a damp fluffy handful I was fresh out of the bath. I was also my big brother ' s teddy bear. Tucked in next to him was my favorite spot to be. He and my sister towered over me.
Just a little bundle of joy after my first bath. I still hate them!
I was always going to be the small one. So I decided early on that small just meant getting to be extra adorable, extra lovable, and extra special.
Mom says the whole process, from those first photos to pickup day, was easy. GoodDog. com kept all the messages between Lilia and her, and also kept all the paperwork in order. Mom told me I was worth a million bucks, and that all the payments went through GoodDog. com, who kept them organized and accurate so mom and dad could focus on the part that mattered— counting down the days until they could take me home.
When mom and dad finally made the trip to bring me home, I fit entirely inside their two hands. I also slept in dad ' s slipper my first night at my new home. I ' ve since claimed considerably more room in their hearts.
My big brother and me. He and our sister always had a few inches, and ounces, on me.
This is my forever home. Mom and dad keep me safe, carry me when I ask nicely, and make sure everyone understands I ' m not just any little Yorkie. I ' m Roast Beef. The best dog they ' ve ever had. And between us? They ' re pretty great parents, too. Til next time...
Keep waggin '
