Upon reaching Santa Teresa Blvd., we headed North to Delta Drive, then Welburn Ave. Up the short but steep hill to Mantelli Drive. Mantelli starts off tame at Welburn Ave. But be prepared, it’ s a steep haul. It is a totally doable climb – so stop along the way if you must. Take your time and enjoy the journey! Reaching the North end of Mantelli Drive is a nice reward. There you’ ll take in sweeping, unobstructed views of Day Valley and the Santa Cruz Mountains rising in the distance.
From there, double back on Mantelli and take a quick pivot down Larkspur Lane to Hollyhock Lane, head west to the end of Hollyhock for more views of Hecker Pass Hwy and nearby vineyards, then double back on Hollyhock following it all the way back to Mantelli. This little section is a wildlife haven. Wild turkeys, black tailed deer, and lots of birds seem unbothered by your passing through their neighborhood.
The best part about doubling back on Hollyhock means you avoid climbing back uphill. The slight downhill street winds around a residential area and pops you out right at the base Continued...
