T he Sunrise Rotary’ s Fourth Annual Socks & Shoes
Fundraiser, chaired by Sylvia Rocha Bell and Fran Beaudet, was a huge success. The Event co-chairs were quick to point out that the success came thanks to their fellow Sunrise Rotarians and the generous event sponsors.
Held at Old City Hall Restaurant, the event was started in 2023 to raise money and awareness of the need for wellfitting, good quality footwear and durable socks for local students and athletes.“ The need is so tremendous, there are hundreds of students in need.” Bell shared.
The club also offers support by providing handmade blankets for displaced youth. The importance of having their own blanket for warmth and security is something the club takes to heart, according to Bell.“ Regardless of their living conditions, they are covered with the warmth of their own blanket.”
The club works with other local agencies throughout the year to identify needs and find ways to serve Gilroy’ s youth. For years, the Sunrise Rotary club has worked creatively and diligently to help provide for Gilroy’ s youth. Follow them on Facebook @ GilroySunriseRotary
