Congratulations to you ! We , the editorial board and family at gmhTODAY , are bestowing the title of “ Person to Watch 2021 ” to you . That ’ s right , you , reading this right now . You have made it through the strangest year in recent history . You have faced uncertainty . You have struggled , succeeded , and discovered new and important things about yourself . You have found new ways of doing things . You let go of many things that do not matter , and you have refocused on the things that do . Whether you are young or old , single or partnered up , raising kids or helping parents , you have crushed 2020 .
You became more resourceful than ever . You became kinder than ever . You gave where you could and took only what you needed . You shared with and helped your family , your friends , your neighbors . You gave your money , time , and talents to help strangers . In positions of responsibility , you did not waver — you led . If you had never led before , you became a leader . When you found yourself with more time on your hands , you got busy at home and found ways to volunteer . You became a community champion .
Even on those days you broke down or cried a little — you carried on . You smiled through your mask . You wore your mask whether you felt like it or not . At the end of the day , you did it because you cared for your fellow man . It was never about a mask .
We have all faced loss in 2020 . Loss of our freedom , our jobs , our ability to move about — attending school and church , and public gatherings . We have lost handshakes and hugs . We have lost loved ones . We have grieved and been pushed to the limit . Yet , as 2020 is now and forever will be — literally hindsight — you are still here . You win . We all win .
This new year 2021 brings the hope of a better and brighter future for us all . Make your plans . Live your life and always stay true to you . You may have felt alone at times in 2020 . In 2021 , Just remember you are never alone .
We salute you ! We are proud of you . And we cannot wait to see what great things big and small you will accomplish in 2021 . Know you are now equipped to handle anything life throws at you . And please keep us posted .
