The 2023 Gilroy Rodeo was a huge success , providing nearly $ 43,000 to local charities , including $ 12,500 to Jacob ' s Heart Cancer Support Services throught their Annual " Kickin ' Cancer " fundraiser , where volunteers and rodeo queens walk the stands collecting donations in cowboy boots . The Rodeo ' s mission is to bring the the spirit of rodeo and western heritage back to Gilroy while culturally and financially enriching the community . Celebrating its fifth year , the rodeo sold out to capacity crowds for the third striaght year . The rodeo is an all vounteer 501c3 nonprofit . Volunteers work year-round to put on the event .
