Gagliardi Frusetta , were left to console their grief stricken parents and move on with their lives .
Each year , when the Memorial Day service remembers those from Gilroy who gave their lives in service to our country , the names of so many veterans are recalled as families that were once prune ranchers . The prune box display at the Miller Red Barn , located adjacent to Christmas Hill Park , evokes so many memories of those who have come before us . One box that was sponsored by Don and Jeanne Gage identifies the Bozzo Bros . Don ' s father was also killed in World War II and his mother remarried into the Bozzo family .
Currently , the Miller Red Barn is open only to private tours as further infrastructure improvements are being developed . The good news is that the Barn has been completely renovated and is now ready for the future . It ' s amazing that the building has withstood the elements ever since it was built in 1891 . With generous local financial contributions and grants from the Santa Clara County Heritage Commission , a new foundation and roof were installed , and adding a new paint job has really revived this historic treasure . Please visit the millerredbarn . org website and the Facebook page to learn more about Al Gagliardi ' s prune box collection and the newly installed interpretive panels that highlight the agricultural history of Gilroy .
