According to the menu , the special is available all day but only a limited amount of these dishes are prepared , and they sell out quickly . I went with one of my old faithful ’ s , the Chile Colorado ( Stewed beef in a rich sauce with over 15 unique spices ; served with tortillas ( GF ) $ 17.99 ). I saw the plate was gluten-free , but I opted for flour tortillas — which killed that vibe .
The plates were overflowing and flavorful . Piper ’ s enchiladas , which I have had a few times there , looked great . Deb ’ s Cod fish tacos were bursting with pickled red onions , salsa fresca with avocado , and shredded green cabbage , making it a healthy and tasty dish . Brad caught a big one — his red snapper was regulation size and he handled it like a boss . My Chile Colorado — which I also order regularly , was predicably as good as ever .
We sipped our beverages , shared more stories , and bam ! It was time for a major decision . Do we order every dessert on the menu or narrow it down ? Deb doesn ’ t have a sweet tooth . Otherwise , she ’ s perfect . And , for the record , Brad and Piper were a little too diplomatic for me at this juncture . I needed support ! Instead , this no-brainer decision became a team Sanchez debate .
I reasoned that we should get one of each — everything on the menu . A popular stance with kids and kids at heart . Deb reasoned that it was my heart she was trying to protect and countered with a three-item limit . I knew I was out gunned . So , I convinced myself to believe it was a fair compromise and motioned for a vote . Brad seconded the motion .
