much of our local talent is commuting out of town for work while positions at local businesses remain open . The Chamber wanted to find a way to bridge the gap . Under the direction of Kylie McLaughlin , Director of social media , digital advertising , and Quick 5 Podcast producer , the Chamber created “ MHJobs ” a job board specific to Morgan Hill businesses and residents providing community-based local job placement services .
McLaughlin shared , “ As a Chamber of Commerce , we work very closely with our business community and are always asking how we can help . We started to hear the same thing from many local business owners , regardless of industry . One of the things they were struggling the most with was hiring and retention .”
“ Our intent with MHJobs is to connect local businesses who have positions to fill with qualified local job seekers . Hiring Local benefits everyone . It eliminates long commute times for employees , provides qualified people with a personal knowledge of their business for employers , and keeps money circulating in our local economy .”
By harnessing their relationships with local government , organizations , and businesses McLaughlin and the Chamber hope to make MHJobs the go-to place for advertising local open positions .
“ If there is one place businesses promote their job listings , then there will be one place where job seekers know they can find those positions . Right now , businesses are having to rely on word of mouth , their own social media platforms , or hoping that they ’ ll be seen in the oversaturated and nonspecific ( not to mention expensive ) feeds of Indeed or LinkedIn . With MHJobs , you know that you ’ re being seen by the right people – qualified people who will have no problem commuting to work on Monday morning .” stated Mc Laughlin .
