Gourmet Alley Project Update : Landscaping & Furniture Installation Continues :
With parking lots now open for general use , efforts are focused on the alley and some finish work . Crews are installing landscaping , including new trees and plants that will provide shade and enjoyable spaces for relaxing . Crews are also installing additional seating , bike racks , and trash cans .
During this finish stage , bollards will be installed in the alleys to provide a pedestrian and bicycle-friendly space . Vehicles are no longer permitted in the alleys within the bollard areas .
• Parking lot between 4th and 5th Street : OPEN *
• Parking lot between 5th and 6th Street : OPEN *
• Parking lots at 7th and Eigleberry , 6th and Railroad , and 4th and Monterey : remain open and unaffected by construction .
* Please note that work on landscaping , trash enclosures , and lighting will continue in the parking lot , and certain areas and spaces may be periodically closed to make space for the work . Also , PG & E will be moving three light poles in the parking lot between 5th and 6th Streets which may impact parking temporarily .
The Gourmet Alley Project is funded by a $ 3.9 million grant through the California Department of Transportation Clean California Grant Program . This grant is overseen and administered by Caltrans .
